Do I need a licence to advertise puppies?
In England you need a dog breeding licence from your council if you breed three or more litters in 12 months or breed and sell dogs as a business, and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own schemes. Licensed breeders show their licence number and issuing council on every advert. Puppies must be at least eight weeks old before they go to new homes.

Using an Australian Cattle Dog stud dog
Australian Cattle Dog stud dogs on this page are offered by UK owners. Before you book, ask for copies of the dog's health results: a prcd-PRA DNA result, BVA/KC hip and elbow results, a current BVA/KC/ISDS eye certificate and a BAER hearing test result. For the litter to go on the RKC Breed Register, both the stud and your bitch must already be registered, and the stud dog owner completes and signs their part of the litter registration application. The RKC's good-practice advice for this breed is to prioritise genetic diversity, so check the pairing with its inbreeding coefficient calculator and aim for a figure at or below the breed average. Confirm his results on the Health Test Results Finder, and put the fee, any repeat-mating terms and what happens if no puppies arrive in writing before the mating. Health tests for an Australian Cattle Dog stud
The Australian Cattle Dog is in Breed Watch Category 1: the Royal Kennel Club has not flagged any points of concern specific to the breed for show judges. That does not mean the breed is free of inherited disease. The breed society's health page describes progressive retinal atrophy (two known forms, prcd-PRA and rcd4-PRA), primary lens luxation, and congenital deafness in one or both ears. It says hip and elbow dysplasia are not common in the UK but have caused problems in other countries, which is why the society encourages screening. The society also recommends a DNA test for primary lens luxation before breeding, although that test is not on the RKC list below.
