Breeds in the Working group

About the Working group

The Working group is made up of breeds developed as guards, draught dogs and search and rescue dogs, including the Boxer, Dobermann, Rottweiler, Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundland, Great Dane and Siberian Husky. Many are large, powerful dogs bred to work closely with people.

Working breeds generally need experienced handling, early socialisation and consistent training, and their size makes joint health important. Ask breeders for hip and elbow scores and any breed-specific screening, such as heart testing, for both parents.
