Is it free to advertise here?

Yes. A breeder profile and your litter and stud dog adverts are free. Premium profiles, featured placement and sponsored articles are optional paid extras; see pricing.

Do I need a licence to advertise puppies?

In England you need a dog breeding licence from your council if you breed three or more litters in 12 months or breed and sell dogs as a business, and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own schemes. Licensed breeders show their licence number and issuing council on every advert. Puppies must be at least eight weeks old before they go to new homes.

Is my listing already here?

We add licensed breeders from councils' public registers. Search for your kennel name; if it is listed you can claim it and edit everything.

Buying a German Pinscher puppy

This page lists UK breeders on caninebreeder.co.uk with German Pinscher puppies for sale or litters planned. Each listing reflects what the breeder has told us, so check the details yourself before you commit. The RKC lists no breed-specific health screening for the German Pinscher, so ask for the litter's inbreeding coefficient and for any tests the parents have had, then look them up on the RKC Health Test Results Finder. The RKC's breed standard colours are black and tan, blue and tan, fawn and red, and the breed has no non-breed-standard colour options on the register. Expect a medium-sized, short-coated dog standing around 43 to 48 cm, needing up to an hour's exercise a day and a weekly groom, and living beyond 10 years. See the mother with her litter, do not take a puppy home before eight weeks, and read our buyer safety guide first. You can also browse Working group breeders.

Health tests to ask about

The RKC does not list any breed-specific screening scheme or DNA test for the German Pinscher. Its only Good Practice recommendation for the breed is prioritising genetic diversity, and no Best Practice tests are listed. The RKC's guidance explains that every dog carries hidden recessive genes, that a stud dog used for a large number of litters spreads his silent faults through a breed, and that a puppy is affected only when it inherits a faulty copy from each parent. It advises limiting how often any one male is used and running inbreeding calculators before choosing a mate.

The RKC has no breed-specific DNA testing package for the German Pinscher, although its individual DNA tests are available, and there are no extra breed-specific breeding restrictions. The breed is in Breed Watch Category 1, which means no breed-specific points of concern have been flagged for judges beyond those covered by the standard. The RKC is moving the actions from its earlier Breed Health and Conservation Plans into a new breeding for health framework and says it will update how this applies to each breed, so check the breed page for changes. No health record can guarantee a puppy's future health.
