Do I need a licence to advertise puppies?

In England you need a dog breeding licence from your council if you breed three or more litters in 12 months or breed and sell dogs as a business, and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own schemes. Licensed breeders show their licence number and issuing council on every advert. Puppies must be at least eight weeks old before they go to new homes.

The RKC says the breed average can show as N/A for some newly recognised breeds, and that imported dogs may have only a three-generation pedigree on its records, which makes a CoI less informative, so check how many generations each calculation uses.

The RKC has no breed-specific DNA test package for the Yakutian Laika, though individual DNA tests can be ordered through its testing service. Any extra screening a breeder chooses is their own decision rather than an RKC recommendation, and a CoI is a measure of risk, not a promise of health.
